Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Dr. Glen Bell
by Rev. Dr. Glen Bell
“O that you would tear open the heavens and come down . . .”
Isaiah 64:1
We live in a time of signs, but not the sign we desperately seek.
There is economic tumult.
There are wars and rumors of wars.
There is deep division in Washington – and right here in our neighborhood.
We worry we have lost our way.
Then we remember: O God, You alone are Holy, You alone are Lord.
“From ages past no one has heard, no ear perceived,
no eye has seen any God besides You.”
“We are the clay, and You are our potter;
we are all the work of your hand.”
Isaiah 64:4 & 8
So we throw ourselves on your mercies.
We scream, we whisper, we plead:
“Restore us, O God.
Let your face shine that we may be saved.”
Psalm 80:3
We lean into your promises, and we remember the divine declaration:
“God will strengthen you to the very end.”
I Corinthians 1:8
O God, our lives are in your hands.
We are the clay, and You are the potter.
We wait for you in hope and trust. We lean on your promises.
Your promises are our blessing today.
