Blessings and Benedictions
Each Sunday, a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) pastor offers a blessing and benediction for the week ahead. We hope that these will inspire you and nurture your faith.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Rebecca Mallozzi
One of the last stages of putting a quilt together is the binding. This is the band of fabric that goes around the outside of the quilt, enclosing the raw edges of all the layers of the quilt. Without the binding, things unravel and the exposed layers can come undone. Holding everything together is what makes the binding so important. That’s not to say there won’t still be some rips and tears in the course of a quilt’s life; but I’ve learned some good techniques for patch jobs.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Dr. Byron A. Wade
Listen! Do not be afraid when God calls you to do God’s work. It is easy to run away, be anxious, and experience a lack of self-esteem. Be assured that God knew you before you were born. God will give you the words to say in good and difficult times, provide encouragement, and will always be with you. God has chosen you to do a great work!

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Dr. Andy Kort
It is late August, the so-called “dog days of summer.” These days are supposedly so hot and so uncomfortable that dogs have to seek the shelter of someplace cool and comfortable. Perhaps many of us are uncomfortable too. The heat, yes, but also because there is so much happening right now in the world and in our lives that causes us to simply seek the shelter of someplace safe and comfortable. The dog days of summer seem to be something that we just tolerate and preserve through until the relief of a better time comes our way.

Benediction from Jeniffer Rodriguez
Let’s plant perseverance among the opposition we might be facing
Let’s dig until we find reconciliation among divisions we see and experience every day
Let’s water the seeds of our plantation so words of healing can be spread to the ones who are broken-hearted

Blessings and Benediction from Rev. Amantha Barbee
Our lectionary text Psalm 107 reminds us to give thanks to the Lord, for the Lord is good. We are also called to speak of our redemption. Our redemption can and must be spoken not only with our mouths but with our actions and ways of being. In many ways, we all experience wandering in the desert. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can be brought confidently into a right relationship with God and our fellow human beings.

Blessing and Benediction from Rev. Dr. Kevin Park
We are built up in the steadfast love and faithfulness of Christ. So in Christ, ask boldly, search and knock diligently, for everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Amen.
