Edna Hissem McConnell Scholarship Fund
Commission on Ecumenical Mission and Relations of the PCUSA
Fund RestrictionTo provide, therefore, a capital fund the interest of which at 5% would provide a scholarship, $700.00 would be the minimum and $1,500.00 would be the maximum, in the Chiengmai Girls’ School. Miss Niblock, the Principal, says that they will be very grateful for whatever help Mrs. McConnell’s friends may be prepared to give the Siamese Girls. It should be understood, of course, that a fund thus established should be applied toward helping the needs of pupils who are included in the estimates of approved annual expenses for the Girls’ School at Chiengmai. In other words, income from the fund would apply on the authorized budget of the Station annually, and thereby be subject to credit on the benevolence budget of the church and of the Foreign Board [n/k/a Coemar]. We attach no strings to this scholarship, having confidence in you and the other members of the Board of Foreign Missions to properly administer it. We should be pleased, however, if it is practicable to get it into operation soon. We understand also that should it at some time become impossible to maintain a scholarship in the school designated, the principal fund will revert to the Homewood Presbyterian Church; it is likely that if and when such time should arrive, the Session of our congregation, if such then exist, would like to designate the purpose to which the fund should then be devoted.
Thomas Culbertson McCaughey Memorial Fund
General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
Fund RestrictionTo be used for evangelistic work at some Station on the foreign field to be chosen by Dr. McCaughey. [Note: Mr. McCaughey was contacted by the Board of Foreign Missions with several suggested sites of application. He did not select any. The Board advised him that Pyengyang Station, Korea would be the site of application. Mr. McCaughey did not object. Since the donor did NOT CHOOSE a site, evangelistic missionary work overseas is presumed to be the donor instruction of record.]
