for the purpose of funding, in whole or in part, a faculty position in church history at the Seminary to be known as the E. T. Thompson Chair of Church History, and further on the condition that to the extent such funds in any fiscal year exceed the costs for that year and the next succeeding year for the faculty position to be funded, the Seminary shall apply such excess to support the general academic program of the Seminary.

For the purpose of providing financial aid to seminary students.

To be awarded by Union Theological Seminary of Richmond, VA, as scholarships for students in the Seminary, preferably to student applicants who are in need of financial assistance to help them with the tuition and board.
