Normally, annual income from the Fund shall be used by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Department of History, or its successors, for the preservation of archival records of the Presbyterian Church, with particular emphasis upon application of new and emerging technologies. The following understandings shall guide the nature of its use: 1. Income from the Fund shall be applied solely upon authorization of the appropriate elected body of oversight for the Department of History or its functional successors; 2. Income from the Fund shall not be equalized; 3. Income from the Fund shall not be used for general operations. Nevertheless, income accumulation under such circumstance shall never exceed a period of five (5) annual budget cycles. The Department of History shall regularly publicize the existence of the “Fund for Records Preservation” to the end that others may be encouraged to make similar gifts or to make additional contributions to the corpus of the Fund. Should a time come when the above specifications cannot be carried out, annual income for the “Fund for Records Preservation” shall be applied by the General Assembly for the use consistent with the original purpose.
